  1. 1.Initial Consultation.  This usually is a face-to-face meeting where we meet each other, and discuss your family and goals.  This meeting is free of charge and obligation.

  1. 2.Retainer Agreement.  If you decide that you would like to go ahead with our office, we will agree on what documents will best suit your needs and a cost.  Before we can go ahead, we will complete a retainer agreement that spell it all out.  The vast majority of our estate plans are done on a flat-fee basis.  Half of the flat fee is due upon signing the retainer agreement.

  1. 3.Initial Questionnaires.  We will provide you with a few initial questionnaires that will prompt you to consider what your plan will do.  The questionnaires can be downloaded below, or will be provided at our initial consultation.

  1. 4.Drafts. After you complete and return the initial questionnaires, we will work to prepare drafts of your estate planning documents, then provide them to you with a letter that will guide you as you review.  After a review, you can ask questions or suggest changes.  Then, you will be provided with new drafts that reflect the changes.  This back-and-forth can go on until you are comfortable with your plan.

  1. 5.Signing.  Once we have agreed on final versions of each of the documents, you will schedule an appointment to come in and sign your final documents.  The signing appointment typically takes an hour or less and you walk out with your completed plan in hand!  The second half of the flat fee is due at this time.

How long does this take?  From initial contact to final signing will depend on how quickly you complete paperwork and document reviews, but can be completed in as little as a week.  Typically, however, this process will take a month or two.

Probate, estate, and trust administration matters are largely unrelated to estate planning, and the process at timing will vary widely, depending on each individual circumstance.  Probate matter do typically begin with a free, no obligation, initial consultation.  Please contact our office for more information about estate administration matters
